Come with Yeah Cádiz to one of the most beautiful routes in Andalusia: The White Villages of Cádiz: Setenil de las Bodegas and Olvera (capital of rural tourism 2021). You will want to stay!

WHITE VILLAGES (SETENIL & OLVERA) | NOVEMBER 13 | 2021

The White Villages of Cádiz receive this nickname for the white color of the facades of their houses, a tone that gives them the lime baths. They are located in the north of the province of Cádiz, in the Sierra de Grazalema (where the highest rainfall in the peninsula is recorded). The white color is given by lime. These graffiti became popular in the nineteenth century both to protect themselves from heat and to disinfect streets and homes.

On this excursion we will visit two of the most visited towns in Andalusia: Setenil de las Bodegas and Olvera (Capital of Rural Tourism 2021).
They are two towns with a great tourist reception in the Sierra de Cádiz due to its scenic beauty. Come meet them with Yeah Cádiz!

SETENIL DE LAS BODEGAS

Setenil de las Bodegas is a town in the Andalusian province of Cádiz, it belongs to the route of the white villages and its urban part has been declared a Historic Site. In addition, it has been included in the Association of the Most Beautiful Towns of Spain.

The icon par excellence of Setenil, in addition to its cozy streets of white houses, is the set of houses dug into a mountain, with the rock on its roof. These houses are adapted to the course of the Guadalporcú River and are called "shelter under the rocks."

These constructions have given rise to the formation of beautiful and particular streets such as Cuevas de la Sombra and Cuevas del Sol, where, walking through them, we can experience something unique: when we look up, we can see the rock of the mountain instead of the sky.

OLVERA

Olvera is a paradise in the heart of the White Villages. A hillside of whitewashed houses and narrow streets built between olive groves and crowned by an exuberant monumental complex. The streets of its Historical Complex, which twist capriciously on the slope of the land, firmly keep the aroma of the plants that adorn walls and windows, and that look out to contemplate the colossal figure of its Castle, a silent witness of our history. Among the hamlet, various churches raise their towers towards the sky, offering as a whole a postcard worthy of a story.

Olvera has become this year the Capital of Rural Tourism 2021, an initiative promoted by the rural accommodation platform Escapada Rural.
